Holly Springs is a town in Wake County, and neighboring towns include Apex to the north and Fuquay-Varina to the south. It is rapidly growing the heavily populated Raleigh and Research Triangle Park areas.
The name of Holly Springs refers to the free-flowing springs that emerge into a stream and small lake surrounded by large mature holly trees. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 15.1 square miles (39.2 km2), of which 15.0 square miles (38.9 km2) is land and 0.12 square miles (0.3 km2), or 0.78%, is water.
