Durham
Durham is the home of Duke University, which is of course praised for its academics, and most famously for its athletic teams, in particular basketball. Duke University is also renowned for its Medical Center and its work in the medical and scientific world by helping to create the Research Triangle Park. RP has been an enormous success and contributes to Durham's other nickname, "The City of Medicine."
Durham is culturally diverse, and its people are proud and spirited about their city. Durham is additionally known for its "Black Wall Street." Durham has been going through a renaissance of sorts in the last several years, where trendy restaurants have been popping up all over the city, food trucks rival those of any American city, and a vibrant arts scene flourishes including many art galleries, the Nasher Museum of Art, the Carolina Theater, the American Dance Festival, the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival, the newly redesigned American Tobacco Campus which holds concerts and has restaurants, the Art Institute, and the Durham Performing Arts Center (DPAC), to name just a few of the cool things about Durham.
